Puppy Kindergarten (for dogs under 5 months old)
Content: This 6-week session places emphasis on socialization including play with other puppies, interaction with humans, and handling. Puppies learn skills such as: sit, look, down, come, loose leash walking, stay, and give. Information is provided on issues such as house training, inappropriate mouthing and biting, jumping and more. You'll learn how to prevent unwanted behavior and establish a bond with your puppy using positive reinforcement methods.
Age: Puppies must be 5 months or younger on the FIRST day of class.
CHS PrePaid Training: Pre-paid training through the Connecticut Humane Society is ONLY valid for classes held in Newington.
Prerequisite: Puppies must be age-appropriately vaccinated.
Schedule: Classes meet once a week for 6 consecutive weeks on the same day of the week and at the same time all 6 weeks unless otherwise noted. The first class is approximately an hour and a half long depending on the number of questions and is frequently at a different time. (See Week 1 information below for start time.) The following 5 weeks is 45 minutes.
Week 1 of Class: The first week of class is for HUMANS ONLY - NO DOGS. Week 1 of ALL evening sessions in Newington begin at 6pm and in Bloomfield at 6:30pm; Week 1 of ALL Saturday sessions begins at 2pm; Week 1 of ALL Sunday sessions begins at 2pm.
