National Wolf Awareness Week is a week of events dedicated to dispelling misconceptions and teaching about the role predators play in maintaining biological diversity.

The wolf is a striking symbol of wild nature, yet it has long been shrouded by myth and superstition. Earlier this century, wolves were methodically exterminated from nearly all of their historic range.

Wolves live, on average, 6-8 years in the wild, but they have been recorded up to 13 years of age in the wild. In captivity they have been known to live up to age 18.
